British Columbia - Provincial Chapter

The Women's Health Coalition of British Columbia is a driving force for change, dedicated to building a powerful network of women, health professionals, business leaders, and community advocates. United by a common purpose—to champion and advance women's health across the province—we are committed to ensuring every woman in BC has the opportunity to thrive.

We boldly advocate for equitable diagnosis, fair treatment, barrier-free access to health services, and an environment where research focused on women's health is valued, funded, and transformed into real-world action. Every woman—regardless of background, identity, or circumstance—deserves care that is responsive to her needs and realities.

The WHC of BC collaborates with institutional partners, community partners, and passionate patients to make a meaningful impact. We are expanding our reach by uplifting the voices of women from regions and communities across the province, including Indigenous women, the LGBTQ2S+ community, racialized women and other marginalized groups, to ensure true representation in every decision that shapes their health and futures.

We are deeply grateful for the unwavering commitment of our board members and volunteers, whose dedication fuels our movement and ensures that every contribution makes a difference.

Together, let’s make women’s health a priority in British Columbia.

Our Priority Areas of Action

Barriers in menstrual, reproductive, and sexual health continue to impact women at every stage of life. We are determined to dismantle these barriers and empower women to navigate the health system with confidence. Our advocacy is focused on five bold areas:

EQUITABLE ACCESS
Championing fair and equal access to health care for all women, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender identity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation or place of residence.

DISTRIBUTION OF PUBLIC FUNDS
Urging governments to allocate health budgets that reflect the true needs and perspectives of women, and to address historical gaps in funding.

EFFICIENCY AND SERVICE DELIVERY
Advocating for forward-thinking models of care, that expand and support Healthcare professionals while improving wait times, billing codes, specialist access, medical record sharing, and overall care delivery—for both health professionals and the women they serve.

CLINICAL RESEARCH
Advocating for the comprehensive inclusion of women’s unique health experiences in clinical research, ensuring equitable funding across all medical specialties and at every stage of life.

DIGITAL HEALTH & WOMEN'S TECHNOLOGY
To ensure that digital health innovations reduce rather than exacerbate inequalities, while supporting the development of femtech industries and technologies designed for women.

Join us in shaping a future where women’s health is a pillar of strength in British Columbia.
