Resistance training is a type of exercise that produces benefits and positive changes in many systems including the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system, and the cardiorespiratory system. This session is intended to provide beginners with the knowledge and confidence to start resistance training safely, and to provide an evidence-informed update for those with experience lifting.

The discussion will cover:

· Evidence-informed update on the importance of resistance training for health, wellness, and longevity

· How aging and changes in hormones impact muscle and bone

· Types of exercise adaptations (E.g. strength vs. hypertrophy vs. endurance)

· How to assess your status, set goals based on your results & be successful

· Training principles and sample programs for home or gym
